Seepage Points in Cipulir Market Need Repair

To reduce flood that often hit Pasar Cipulir, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, the related agencies are encouraged to repair dozens of seepage points around Pesanggrahan River.

We have asked the sketch, but the management still not given it to us

The seepage points were thought to be the entrance of the water which floods the market. This situation also worsened by the poor drainage system in the market.

South Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department Head, Deddy Budiwidodo explained his side still not able to repair the drainage in Cipulir Market because the market management does not give the building and drainage sketch of the market.

Pesanggrahan River will be Normalized as Flood Anticipation

"We have asked the sketch, but the management still not given it to us. We understand that it is their authority, but if the market flooded, we also responsible to solve that," told Budiwidodo, Wednesday (4/15).

Because of that, Budi Widodo continued, his side can't do much to reduce flood in Cipulir Market. "Yes, the pump will have no effect even if we put it when the flood hit the market because of the seepage point’s existence. At least, when the flood began to recede, we can accelerate the drying process by using the pump to suck water that trapped in the area," he explained.

Moreover, his side also had coordinated with the Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) related to flood handling. "We have coordinated with BBWSCC that plans to hold dredging and install the sheet pile at the land that has been acquired," he said.
